This project exemplifies my approach to cognitive overload, collaboration and compromise. I co-created it with students in my Spring 2022 Ecopoetry Workshop. Throughout our collaboration, I deepened my understanding and use of Articulate Storyline. I mastered layers and hotspots. I got a better sense of how a simple project can become very, very complicated and the importance of experimenting with prototypes before jumping into Storyline. I now feel confident that in future projects I can make the most of Articulate Storyline’s interactive capabilities, and create projects that grow self-learners and that, in addition to conveying expert material, teach users how to learn.
Dr. Carr’s Ecopoetry Jukebock also foregrounds some key instructional design principles, including: mental models, heuristic work, intrinsic motivation, and educative environments for adult learners.

What | (V)ILT
During this live, interactive workshop, you'll learn about how the Ecopoetry Jukebox works, why I made it, and how that matters to you and your own artistic practice. Along the way, we'll explore a diverse selection of ecopoets, some living and some dead, some "canonical" and some "experimental;" we'll discuss how these poets are making homes in the medium of poetry (eco = home and poesis = to make); and we'll brainstorm strategies for writing our own ecopoems. Then, we'll play the Ecopoetry Jukebox together, using our selections to generate original creative work. We'll end the session with sharing, reflection, and prompts for deeper exploration. This highly generative workshop is open to all levels of poets and writers, as well as folks who haven't yet identified themselves as poets and writers!
